The United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) has officially removed several NutriAsia products from Import Alert 99-45 (“Detention Without Physical Examination of Food Products That Are or Contain an Unsafe Food Additive”), effective 16 May 2025.

This action was a result of NutriAsia’s successful petition submitted on 05 February 2025 for the removal of the following products:

• Mang Tomas All Purpose Sauce (Regular and Hot & Spicy)
• UFC Banana Sauce (Regular and Hot & Spicy)
• Jufran Banana Sauce (Regular and Hot & Spicy)

Following a thorough review of the company’s submission and US’ national entry data, the US FDA concluded that the said products have met the criteria for removal from detention without physical examination (DWPE). The decision allows routine importation of the listed products into the United States. However, the US FDA advises that should detentions occur in the future for the same or related issues, DWPE may be reinstated.

Philippine exporters are advised to coordinate closely with their US importers and review the latest US FDA Import Alerts and guidance to ensure continued compliance with US food safety regulations.
