SheTrades Philippines Hub

SheTrades Philippines Hub

SheTrades Philippines (PH) Hub is a project of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC) that primarily supports Philippine women entrepreneurs (WEs)/ micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to access global markets while promoting their full participation in international trade through various initiatives.

SheTrades Hubs are decentralized platforms for in-country interventions of the ITC SheTrades Initiative. Hosted by local institutions, SheTrades Hubs cater to women entrepreneurs by serving as a resource centre to access trainings, market and investment opportunities offered by ITC SheTrades.

SheTrades Hub has a global network of 16 Hubs across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America. It has a presence in 25 countries and a global network of 350 partner organizations from 65 countries. The SheTrades initiative has since supported 30,000 women-led businesses and generated US$140 million in trade opportunities for women in the world.

The DTI-EMB serves as the national host institution for the establishment and implementation of the SheTrades PH Hub in cooperation with relevant public and private partners.

Particularly, SheTrades PH Hub which was launched during the 2020 National Exporters’ Week, enables Filipina-led businesses to network, sell products and services, and access e-learning programs and market tools to enhance their participation in international trade.

Objectives:

To roll out the global SheTrades initiative to the local context by aligning it with government initiatives on women's economic empowerment for increased local ownership and sustainable long-term impact.
To expand the access of women entrepreneurs to the international market by strengthening market linkages, business competitiveness, enabled by a supportive policy environment.
The SheTrades PH Hub also supports DTI’s Gender and Development (GAD) program which focuses on women’s participation and benefits in livelihood and entrepreneurial activities. DTI GAD Program provides interventions for women’s economic empowerment, ensuring equitable and beneficial access to capital, technology, markets, and enhancing their entrepreneurial skills and leadership capacity.
